In Memory, Linda Leonard

The South Creek Volunteer Fire Department is heartbroken to share the passing of Firefighter and EMT Linda Leonard, a woman whose dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment shaped our Department and our community for more than half a century.

Linda was a cornerstone of South Creek’s emergency services. A life member with over 50 years of service, she stood among the most devoted individuals ever to wear our uniform. She was a charter member of the South Creek Volunteer Ambulance Association, a Pennsylvania State EMT Instructor, and served as secretary for South Creek Township for countless years — always with the same steady reliability that defined her entire life.

Her service was not only professional, but deeply personal. Linda was the wife of our longest‑standing Chief, Joe Leonard, the mother of life member Mary Ann Munroe, and a loving grandmother to Chief Ethan Sheets and member Adam Sheets. Her family’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of our Department, and her influence will continue through every generation that follows.

What we will remember most is Linda’s presence — the way she showed up for every call, every event, every moment the community needed her. Outside of emergency services, she was always involved in local gatherings, lending her time, her hands, and her heart wherever they were needed. Her achievements, her accolades, and her decades of service will forever live in our hearts, and in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.

While her absence leaves an enormous void, we find comfort in knowing that every time those tones ring out, she — along with so many others we’ve lost — will be with us on those trucks, riding along in spirit.

A Department service date and time will be announced in the coming days. Thank you, Linda, for being part of the reason we are here. Rest easy now — we’ve got it from here.
